Happy New Year Free Hype family! What better way to start of 2017 than with a few gems from a great book. I just finished reading Mastery of Self by Don Miguel Ruiz Jr. This book gives you major keys on understanding self love, your self-worth and creating the best life possible for yourself without worrying about the negative influence of others. I recommend this book for anyone striving towards personal goals this year. Check out these three gems from Mastery of Self below.
Removing domestication's from your life. Domestication's are the thoughts and beliefs of how the outside world believes you should be as a person. These beliefs have been deeply rooted in you from the time you were born. These beliefs affect your appearance, preferences, and overall confidence. Without awareness of this, your domestication and attachments will corner you into taking actions that conform to the belief systems they have built. This is not free will, as you have given up your personal freedom in order to maintain ideas that were planted in you long ago. You have traded in who you are for who you think you should be. By living your life on autopilot this way, without awareness of the possibilities that exist in every moment, you end up in the same situations over and over again, making the same choices, and then wonder why nothing ever changes.
Breaking the cycle of automatic. While making decisions automatically may seem acceptable with the little things, if you aren’t careful you will slowly begin to live your life in autopilot and this will begin to spill over into more significant areas in your life. Once you have developed the habit of making automatic decisions with little choices, it can become more difficult to stop and reflect on the larger choices when they are presented to you—especially when your domestication and attachments are trying to control you. Living your life in autopilot can become mundane; try new foods, travel new places and always be open to a new experience!
Unconditional Love. Unconditional love for yourself is understanding that you are already perfect in this moment and there is no goal you need to obtain to be worthy of your own love. You can now begin to set goals from a place of unconditional self-love rather than fear, shame, or doubt. Any change you want to make or goal you want to achieve is undertaken because you really want to do it, not because of a feeling of inadequacy or not being enough.
