Welcome All! It's been a while since #FatherFridays has popped off. It's only right that this Father Friday be dedicated to brotha from anotha Derrick Stark, Founder of PowerHouse Inc. Derrick co-parents with Rowen's mother, Blake Cokes. Stark, or Stacks as we call him, is a Dayton native and Hospitality and Management graduate of Western Kentucky University. There, he earned himself a starting Center position for the Hilltoppers football team as a walk-on. He's used that same determination & perseverance to start PowerHouse Inc.

"PowerHouse is a personal & community development agency that aims to add positives to people's physical, spiritual, and emotional health & well being" says Derrick. "Currently we're tackling the physical aspect of the training very hard" he continues. The agency has 15 clients stemming from Dayton, OH and branching out as far as Cincinnati. PowerHouse provides services to areas spanning from Northern Ohio down to North Kentucky.
On balancing being a dad with being an entrepreneur, Derrick says things can be pretty challenging as far as needing to handle business with the company and spending time with baby Ro. "I find a way to do paperwork when she's sleep or just chillin. She's a very mild mannered child like her dad so I usually don't have to much to worry about her if she's occupied" says Stark.
Derrick (67) earned a starting spot just one year after walking on at WKU 2015'
"I have a great support system with my mom or grandmother so if I need to step out and be with a client they're always right there." says Derrick speaking to his support. "Shoutout to all the mother's & fathers teaching their children the important values in life besides the material things. Family for the support everyone in the Powerhouse family."

Stacks & I have been teammates since 7th grade. Prior to attending WKU, Stacks & I were roommates at Tiffin University. Although we were teammates at Trotwood, it wasn't until rooming together at T-Town that our bond as friends (and eventually brothers) became closer. Our contrasting personalities allowed us to create a fellowship that has stretched beyond the playing field into helping each other with our everyday lives. I'm glad to have a guy of his character as a comrade.
